Hermosa Beach

Welcome to Hermosa Beach

A gem along the Pacific, Hermosa Beach is paradise for sun lovers and beachgoers.

Located south of Manhattan Beach and north of Redondo Beach, this oceanfront community is known for its laidback beaches, trendy shopping, and incredible pier. Its name is derived from the Spanish word for “beautiful,” which accurately describes Hermosa Beach’s stunning scenery. With an average of 325 sunny days per year, residents take full advantage of the pristine beaches by sunbathing, surfing, and swimming. Compact, the city spans approximately fifteen blocks north to south and forty blocks east to west, but there is plenty to explore. When you see the way Hermosa Beach’s architecture blends cool California craftsman style with Mediterranean influences, you’ll understand why nearly half of all Hermosa Beach residents choose to own their homes.

From Torrance Beach north to Santa Monica, a paved pathway called The Strand courses through Hermosa Beach. Properties along The Strand are envied for their incredible oceanfront views and beach access. Hermosa Beach Pier and Pier Avenue is the beating heart of Hermosa Beach’s dining, shopping, and celebrating. Here, browse fashion boutiques like Beach and Beverly, Montce Swim, and Circa Blue, or brunch at Cafe Bonaparte or Lucky 7 Coffee. Zane’s on Hermosa Avenue is a great place to spend an evening people-watching. Their upscale Italian fares and prime steaks pair well with their social hour discounts on corkage fees every Sunday through Thursday. Palmilla Cocina y Tequila is dishing up elegant Latin food with Baja flair near the beach. Bite into pomegranate pepita guacamole or sip on a refreshing Palmilla margarita to cool off on a summer’s day. For Italian alfresco, locals dine at The Bottle Inn, a long-standing Hermosa Beach staple with an expansive wine selection. Enjoy an evening of laughter and fun at The Comedy & Magic Club, a beachside club that draws acts like Jay Leno, Ray Romano, and Jerry Seinfeld.

Hermosa Beach’s remarkable landscape makes it the perfect home to many outdoor sports. Hermosa Beach has been home to the International Surf Festival, where competitors can participate in surfing and bodysurfing contests, paddleboard races, beach runs, and more. The Association of Volleyball Professionals hosts the AVP Hermosa Beach Open on the wide, sandy beaches beloved by beach volleyball players, both professional and amateur. Beautiful parks like Cypress Park and Edith Rodaway Friendship Park make it easy to spend afternoons playing pick-up basketball and picnicking.
